Federal Trade Commission sues Chicago-area debt collector

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Federal Trade Commission is suing a Chicago-area debt collector which allegedly coerced payments from consumers on phantom debts.

Stark Law LLC also allegedly sold bogus consumer information to other debt collectors.

A victim says they had all his personal information when they began calling, demanding payment.

The FTC says debt collection complaints now outnumber complaints for identity theft.
