NORTH AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- A portion of a highway in west suburban North Aurora has been renamed in honor of a National Guard member who was killed in Afghanistan.

Christopher Patterson, 20, was one of four guard members killed by a roadside bomb in January 2012.

Illinois lawmakers recently passed a resolution to rename a portion of Route 31 in his honor.
