GARY, Ind. -- A 40-year-old man was killed and a second male was wounded in a shooting Saturday in northwest Indiana.

Jerome Long, of the 800 block of Tennessee Street, was found with several gunshot wounds in the 3700 block of Monroe Street, according to a statement from Gary police and the Lake County coroner's office.

He was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake, where he was pronounced dead at 11:28 a.m., the coroner's office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

The second male, who investigators believe was also injured in the shooting, later showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
