KANKAKEE, Ill. (WLS) -- A small fire broke out in the emergency room of Presence St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee early Monday morning.

Lisa Lagger, a spokesperson for Presence St. Mary's, said the fire broke out around 3:15 a.m.

Employees implemented the hospital's fire protocol and called the Kankakee Fire Department, Lagger said. Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly. No one was hurt.

The emergency room will be on bypass during cleanup. Lagger said all other hospital operations, including surgeries and testing, are moving forward as scheduled.

Investigators are looking into how the fire started.
