Police warn of armed robberies near Loyola University

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are warning people about armed robberies near Loyola University in Rogers Park.

Police say early Tuesday two separate incidents occurred 20 minutes apart.

Investigators say that in both incidents, a man with a handgun walked up behind people and took their things.

One robbery happened about 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Arthur, while the other robbery happened about 1:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Columbia, police said.

The suspect is described as a 180-pound, 5-foot-11 black man, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.
