WASHINGTON (WLS) -- Congress approved $28 million to convert more than 2,700 officers from part time to full-time.

It's a move that could cut those long airport lines.

This will add an additional 53 screening lanes nationwide at some of the busiest airports.

The TSA has had high turnover in part-time workers. The agency hopes to hold on to more employees by making them full-time.
