Chicago Skyway to open new express lanes July 1

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Drivers using the Chicago Skyway will soon have a chance to make their trip a little quicker.

The Skyway will open express lanes for EZ Pass customers starting July 1.

The lanes will switch direction twice a day depending on the time of day. It gives drivers a way to avoid slower cash and credit card lines.

Crews tore down the old McDonald's at the center of the toll plaza to make room for the new lanes.
