Riverside police investigating garage burglaries

RIVERSIDE, ill. (WLS) -- Police in Riverside are warning residents to be on alert after a pair of garage burglaries in the suburb.

Both burglaries took place during daytime hours in the 200 block of Scottswood Road. Electronic equipment and power tools were taken in each incident and in one case the home was also burglarized.

In in incident, force was used to break a garage window to gain entry. In the other incident, a garage opener in an unlocked car was used to open the garage.

Riverside police say they are examining evidence and are warning residents to report any suspicious persons. They have stepped up patrols in targeted areas, including bicycle patrols.
