MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy was in critical condition Sunday after he almost drowned in Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Ind., according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

At about 3 p.m., the teen was with friends at Washington Park Beach, where he was swept off the rocks into the lake.

The boy appeared to be struggling when lifeguards pulled him out. He was taken by EMS to Franciscan St Anthony Health, and was last reported to be alive in critical condition, a Coast Guard statement said.
