Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was part of a panel answering questions during a CNN town hall Wednesday night to address divide between police and the black community.

"Think if there was a movement called 'White Lives Matter' it would be considered racist. So, I think that all lives matter...at the end of the day we have to have exposure to each other and we have to sit down and really rip at this thing and get after it," McCarthy said.

During the town hall, family members of the slain Dallas officers met face-to-face with the mothers of police shooting victim Alton Sterling's son.
