Police warn Wilmette residents of home burglaries

WILMETTE, Ill. (WLS) -- The Wilmette Police Department is warning residents of recent home burglaries.

Officials say burglars hit two homes in north suburban Wilmette this week. In both cases, burglars crept into the homes overnight while residents were sleeping.

The intruders got inside through unlocked doors.

At one home, a car was stolen and a 17-year-old has been arrested in that case.

At the second home, the thief stole a purse.
