ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (WLS) -- A prisoner who escaped custody at a suburban Cook County courthouse has been captured in Arlington Heights, officials said.

Jonathan Scott, 26, was inside the Rolling Meadows courthouse Wednesday when he suddenly ran from the courtroom and escaped the building, according to Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff's office.

Scott's escape sparked a manhunt involving the Cook County Sheriff's Office and Rolling Meadows Police Department. Authorities were seen searching an area of Arlington Heights about a mile north of the courthouse. He was located around 5:20 p.m., Ansari said.

Scott was being held on a charge of possession of a controlled substance after he was arrested in Elk Grove Village, Ansari said.

His bail was set at $30,000, according to the sheriff's office. His next court date is scheduled for Aug 11.
