New lane closures begin Monday at a busy intersection on Chicago's Northwest side as the second phase of the massive Western Avenue viaduct project gets underway.

Belmont will be restricted to one lane in each direction through Western and Clybourn Avenues.

Drivers can expect changing lane configurations along that stretch through mid-November.

The once-elevated viaduct is being replaced with a new five-way intersection at Western, Belmont and Clybourn.

City officials said the 18 month project remains on schedule.
