Archbishop of Mexico City to visit Des Plaines shrine

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- The Archbishop of Mexico City, Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, is visiting the Chicago area this weekend to celebrate mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The special mass on Sunday will honor the cardinal for his 50 years as a priest.

Thousands of pilgrims flock to the shrine in northwest suburban Des Plaines every December.

This marks the first visit to the shrine for the Archbishop of Mexico City.
