WHEATON, Ill. (WLS) -- The body of a newborn found Monday abandoned on the side of a road in west suburban Wheaton was female and at full term, according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators continued Wednesday to identify the baby's mother, and have sought the public's help via a Facebook video.

The baby girl appeared to be white, Hispanic or Asian, the sheriff's office said.

Two bathroom items were found with the baby - a brown toilet lid cover and a brown bath rug.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the DuPage County Sheriff's Office at 630-407-2400.

The baby's body was discovered by landscapers trimming trees in unincorporated Wheaton around 3 p.m. Monday. They spotted a small, black backpack on the side of a private drive just off Plamondon Road. When they opened it, they discovered the newborn's body inside, with a blanket.

On Tuesday, bouquets of flowers and a memorial with a cross with a heart that reads "Baby Doe" marked the spot where the discovery was made.
