CHICAGO (WLS) -- The city will announce Monday that every Chicago Public School classroom will be air conditioned by next spring.

AC has been installed in 283 schools during the past five years and 61 still do not have it.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel said they'll get air conditioning by next year so kids and teachers can focus on learning in a comfortable environment.

The move fulfills a pledge made by Emanuel in his first term to have every classroom outfitted with air conditioning. A total of 283 schools have received air conditioning since he took office in 2011.
