Police warn Wicker Park residents of violent home invasions

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning residents in Wicker Park to be on alert after a series of violent home invasions.

In all three incidents, female victims woke up to a male suspect partially clothed in their bedrooms.

In the 1800-block of West Evergreen Avenue, the victim woke up to the suspect, wearing no pants, on top of her covering her mouth with his hand. The victim pleaded for help and was able to break free before the suspect fled from the residence bedroom window, according to police.

All three incidents happened Friday overnight. Police said the break-ins happened in the 1400-block of North Greenview Avenue, the 1200-block of North Wood Street and the 1800-block of West Evergreen Avenue. Police said two of the incidents were also sexual assaults.

Police said the suspect may have entered through unlocked windows.

Area detectives are investigating.
