15-year-old boy on scooter hit by car in Griffith

GRIFFITH, Ind. (WLS) -- A 15-year old boy was hit by a car while he was riding a scooter Monday afternoon in Griffith in northwest Indiana, police said.

The driver stopped and cooperated with police. The teenager was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. in the 500-block of East Glen Park Avenue.

The boy was crossing the four lane road on a scooter when someone drove into him, police said.

Police are investigating, but they do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
