ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. -- Feeling the heat of internal investigation, a former Elk Grove Village police officer took it upon himself to step down after police officials said he wrote several fake warning tickets.

The 20-year veteran allegedly wrote 13 warning tickets during the first four months of this year for traffic stops that never occurred.

The discrepancies were revealed when dash cam video did not match the information on the tickets.
