CHICAGO (WLS) -- Alderman Carrie Austin blasted an effort to oust Tim Evans as Chief Judge in Cook County.

There are reports that fellow Democrats are trying to rally support for Judge Thomas Allen, who is challenging Evans.

Tuesday Austin said Evans is being blamed for things that are out of his control. She went on to explain the reason for her frustration.

"I work hard for this Democratic party. I never have faltered, ever. I never supported somebody that wasn't supported by the Democratic Party, no matter when or where. Even if i didn't like them, I supported them," she said.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle's office denied reports that she was behind the effort to oust Judge Evans saying, "This is a rumor that has no basis in fact."
