CHICAGO (WLS) -- A group dedicated to fighting cancer celebrated its first year Thursday.

The Chicago Cancer Health Equity Collaborative held its first annual symposium.

The initiative started a year ago to raise cancer awareness in low income communities throughout the city.

ABC7's Roz Varon, who is a breast cancer survivor, was a keynote speaker at the event.
