Police: Stores in Logan Square, West Town targeted in armed robberies

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Small grocery and liquor stores in the West Town and Logan Square neighborhoods have been targeted in an armed robbery spree, Chicago police said.

Four armed robberies have occurred since August and police said the suspect walked into the stores, demanded someone up the safe and then take cash and bottles of liquor. During one robbery, the suspect fired shots but no one was hurt.

The robberies occurred in the 2200 block of North Western Avenue on Aug. 26, the 1900 block of North California Avenue on Sept. 13, the 2500 block of West North Avenue on Sept. 20 and the 3000 block of West Fullerton Avenue on Sept. 22.

The suspect is described as between 20-30 years old, 5'6" tall, 150 to 170 pounds and wearing a white or blue T-shirt, a black mask and blue and white or red gym shoes.
