Suspicious stranger incident reported in Hinsdale

HINSDALE, Ill. (WLS) -- Hinsdale police said a man was taken into custody after an adult witnessed a suspicious incident Monday afternoon.

Police said around 4:30 p.m. near East Walnut Street and Phillipa Street, a young boy was approached by a stranger asking for directions. Police said the stranger then asked the boy to walk with him to the destination, but a nearby parent recognized the boy and intervened.

Hinsdale police took a 42-year-old man from Dolton into custody and an investigation is ongoing. No charges have yet been filed. Police said no one was harmed.

Police are asking parents to speak with their children and remind them not to talk to stranger and especially never accompany a stranger to any destination or ever get in a stranger's car.
