VILLA PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A 16-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm after police say he shot two unarmed men in suburban Villa Park.

Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 900-block of North Avenue Tuesday around 9:12 p.m. and found two individuals with gunshot wounds, according to Du Page County State's Attorney officials. The teen allegedly shot at the two victims after a brief altercation and then fled the scene, police said.

One victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and the other suffered two gunshot wounds in the leg and abdomen. Officials say both victims are expected to recover.

The alleged offender was taken into custody a short time later. He appeared in bond court Wednesday, where his bond was set at $1 million.
