Woman, 88, robbed by 2 men offering to clear driveway in NW Indiana

TRAIL CREEK, Ind. (WLS) -- An 88-year-old woman was robbed in northwest Indiana by two men after offering to help clear her driveway, police said.

Police said the woman let the two men into her home in the 210-block of Red Oak Drive in Trail Creek. One of them distracted her while the other stole a jewelry box a silver coins, police said.

The woman was not injured and called a relative who alerted police after the suspects left, police said.

The suspects were seen driving a white truck with a silver tool box in the bed of the truck, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trail Creek police at 219-879-8173.
