CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police issued two community alerts overnight, warning people of robbers on Chicago's North and Northwest sides.

In the first alert, police urge people who ride the CTA Red, Brown or Purple Line trains in the early morning hours to be aware of their surroundings. Police said two people riding those trains have been robbed in the last three weeks.

Police said the suspect approached each victim, both standing alone, on a train and took their property by force. The first victim was robbed near the Fullerton station on April 12. The second victim was robbed near the Red Line station at North and Clybourn on April 21.

Surveillance photos of the man walking away from one of the stations show the suspect is an African American man in his 30s. He is about 6ft. 2 in. tall and weighs around 190-200 pounds. He was wearing a gray, light-colored hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the CTA robberies should contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.

In the second alert, police warned of violent robberies in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. Police said two people were robbed at gunpoint in the last week.

Two men walked up to each victim on the sidewalk, pointed a gun at the side of his or her head and robbed them, police said. The suspects then took off on foot or in a silver coupe or small sedan.

The first victim was robbed in the 2300-block of North Sawyer Avenue around 3:10 a.m. on April 23. The second victim was robbed in the 2600-block of North Sawyer just before 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

One suspect is described as an African American man in his 20s with a medium complexion and sandy-colored afro-style hair. He is between 5 ft. 4 in. and 5 ft. 7 in. tall and weighs around 130-150 pounds. He was wearing a gray vest and black pants in one incident. In the other incident, he was wearing a black ski cap and a black two-pocket shirt.

The second suspect is described as an African American man between 5 ft. 9 in. and 5 ft. 10 in. tall, who weighs around 200-210 pounds. He had black hair and was wearing a loose, blue, button-up shirt.
