2 Lake Geneva police officers on leave after deadly shooting

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (WLS) -- Two police officers who shot and killed a man who they said charged at them with a large knife in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, were put on administrative leave.

Around 5:10 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a man breaking a window with an axe at W3836 Lincoln Drive. Police said when they encountered the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Eric Olsen, he came at them with a large knife.

Officer Eric Anderson, 41, and Officer Jason Sweeney, 39, fired at Olsen, who was pronounced dead. Anderson and Sweeney, both 12-year veterans of the force, were placed on administrative leave.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Department and the Department of Justice are investigating the shooting.
