MINOOKA, Ill. (WLS) -- Police are searching for a team of bandits behind a string of business burglaries that could be connected, and in one theft 27 guns were taken.

Investigators said Tuesday that thieves hit up shops in southwest suburban Joliet, New Lenox, Coal City, Diamond and Minooka. The guns were stolen from a Minooka hardware store.

Authorities said the burglars used different ways to break into the businesses.

"Vehicles are used either to go through the front doors, through the side walls of the businesses to get in. They're in and out very quickly. Ad those guns are circulating throughout the communities for a long time," said David Coulson, ATF spokesperson.

Police said a black Ford Fusion may be involved in the crimes.
