CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man in his early 30s was killed Tuesday morning in a fire on Chicago's West Side.

Firefighters responded around 9:45 a.m. to a report of a blaze at an apartment building in the 3500-block of West Douglas Boulevard in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.

There was a report of a man trapped in a unit on the first floor. The man was found dead in a bedroom where fire officials said the fire started, fire officials said.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

Investigators are looking into what caused the fire. They said the apartment had working smoke detectors that alerted the residents to the blaze, but they could not get into the room that was on fire.
