HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- Two men were killed in Hammond Saturday after one was accidentally shot and the shooter then killed himself, police said.

Police responded at about 9:30 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 7100-block of Osbourne Avenue. The initial officer responding to the scene heard an additional shot as he pulled up, police said.

Witnesses told police that a man accidentally shot another man, identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Culp of Highland, at a get together.

He attempted to administer first aid to Culp, and then told witnesses he could not live with himself and shot himself, police said.

Culp was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene.
