NW Indiana math tutor charged with having sex with student

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- A Northwest Indiana math tutor was charged with having sex with a 14-year-old student on Thursday.

Police said they started investigating 18-year-old Dakota Sampson after the girl told her mother about the relationship.

Prosecutors said Sampson claimed the sex was consensual.

A spokesperson for the Lake County Prosecutor's office said Sampson was being held without bond on three counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
