10 vehicles involved in Tri-State Tollway crash near Lincoln Oasis

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (WLS) -- Ten vehicles crashed Friday morning on the northbound Tri-State Tollway, just before the Lincoln Oasis, near the Indiana State Line.

A double-bottom semi, a box truck and eight other vehicles were involved in the wreck, which blocked several lanes on the tollway.

Three ambulances responded to the scene. At least one person was hurt. The injury was reportedly critical.

South Holland, Lansing and Calumet City police helped Illinois State Police clear the scene.

Just before 7 a.m., delays on the northbound Tri-State extended all the way back to the state line. Drivers were occasionally allowed through the crash site as officers moved the vehicles involved onto the shoulders.

The cause is under investigation.
