3-year-old watches as father shot in head at grandparents' house

HOUSTON -- A father was shot and critically injured in front of his young son at home in Spring Branch.

Homicide detectives responded to the home on Housman around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim went to his parents' house to pick up his 3-year-old son, according to authorities.

Police say while the man was at his parents' home, someone came to the door. The man opened the door and let two other men into the home. An argument began, and the two men shot the boy's father in the head.

After that, the victim's father started fighting with the armed suspects, and they took off.

The victim's parents parents and his son were not hurt, but police say the child recognized the shooters.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers are talking to the victim's father hoping to get a better suspect description.
