Valentine's Day gifts for every relationship stage

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Valentine's Day is next Wednesday. There's a lot of pressure in the dating world, especially in newer relationships, to get the right gift. But a lot of it depends on how established your relationship is and where it stands.

Elizabeth Striegel from Gurnee Mills Mall joined ABC7 to pick out the perfect gift based on how long you've been together.

For 1 to 3 months: Nothing too extravagant - perhaps a chocolate rose or cocktail recipe book.

For 3 to 6 months: Show you've been listening - sunglasses or a backpack for the hiker in your life.

For 6 months to a year: Something personal and unique - such as a designer handbag.

For 2 to 3 years: Show true commitment - maybe home goods such as a cozy throw blanket or a nice piece of jewelry

For 5 years or more: Think creatively - a new carry-on for a big vacation or diamonds. Who doesn't like travel and diamonds?
