MATTESON, Ill. (WLS) -- Four suspects are in custody following an hours-long standoff at a home in south suburban Matteson, Ill., Tuesday following an armed robbery, police said.

Matteson police said around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery call in the 21200-block of Maple Street. According to police, four offenders went into a home where three victims were staying and demanded money; two of the offenders were allegedly armed. Police said the suspects took cash and a cell phone, then fled on foot to another house nearby in the 3600-block of 211th Place.

When police arrived at the residence, the suspects refused to exit the home. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team responded, including SWAT units, and negotiated with the suspects for several hours before the suspects were peacefully taken into custody, police said. Police also recovered at least one gun.

Police said there was a juvenile at the home where the standoff occurred, but they were involved in the incident and were unharmed.

Matteson Police said no one was injured during the standoff, and the armed robbery was "isolated and targeted." They have not released the identities of the suspects.
