CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person was killed and four other people were wounded in a shooting in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood Monday night. The youngest victim is 13 years old.

The boy was rushed to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition. Police said his condition was stable Tuesday morning. He was shot in the right thigh near West 67th Street and South Winchester Avenue around 8:50 p.m. Monday.

Police said a group of men was standing in a front yard when another group of men, reportedly in a small compact car, opened fire on them.

A man in his 20s was shot in the head and died at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released his identity.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the left leg. A 30-year-old man was shot in the left leg and backside. They were both transported to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions stabilized. A 34-year-old man was shot in the right leg, right shoulder and right hand. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.

The 13-year-old boy was caught in the crossfire.

Andrew Holmes, a community activist, said the shooter or shooters will not be held responsible for their actions unless a member of the community steps forward with information.

"It's going to take the community. I mean, the police are doing what they're doing to respond to the shooting. It's going to take the individuals that stay on this block, stay in this community, to communicate and give up the individuals who know about anything about who discharged that weapon," Holmes said.

Area South investigators did not give a description of the shooter or shooters or of a vehicle. No one is in custody.

There were two other shootings in the city's Englewood neighborhood Monday night.

Around 10:40 p.m., a 24-year-old man was fatally shot in the 7300-block of South Morgan Street. Police said he got into a fight with another man over a gun. During the struggle, the other man gained control of the weapon and opened fire.

The victim was shot several times in the body, rushed to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

Around 11:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot while driving south in the 5600-block of South Loomis Boulevard. Police said someone got out of a black car and fired shots in his direction.

The victim was shot twice in the back. He was also transported to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

All three shootings appear to be separate incidents, but police have not yet confirmed that detail.
