Woman injured in Chicago's 1st reported shooting of 2015

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 21-year-old woman was injured in the first reported shooting of the new year, which occurred in Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood overnight.

The victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked minivan with a man in the 7900-block of South St. Louis Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Police said a dark-colored car pulled up, someone inside fired shots and the vehicle continued driving north on St. Louis Avenue.

The woman was struck in the leg. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where her condition stabilized.

Police are investigating the shooting.
