CHICAGO (WLS) -- A toddler is in critical condition after being hit by a car on the city's West Side.
Firefighters say a 5-year-old boy was hit then pinned underneath the car after running into the street around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 500-block of North Pine in the Austin neighborhood. Officials say the 35-year-old driver swerved to avoid hitting him, but was too late.
He was taken to Loyola Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The driver was cited.
