CHICAGO (WLS) -- Senator Dick Durbin will travel to Cuba Saturday as part of a delegation aiding with the restoration of relations between Cuba and the U.S.

Durbin is part of a delegation of six Democrats who will be making the trip.

This will be the first congressional delegation to visit Cuba since President Obama announced a change of policy that eases a decades-old embargo.

"As soon as we open the eyes of people in Cuba to the opportunities in the rest of the world, we are going to see them as other countries have," Durbin said. "Move toward more democracy, move toward more opportunity, and move toward the United States."

The delegation will be meeting with Cuban government officials and other ambassadors.

The delegation returns Monday night.
