Survey Questions (Character limit of 2,000 per response)

1. What is the most important issue that you will address in your ward?

THE CITIZNES OF THE 18TH WARD HAVE TO HEAL. THERE IS MUCH LOST OF TRUST, ANGER AND HURT, BECAUSE MANY FEEL THAT THE CURENT ALDERMAN AND WARD SUPERINTENT HAVE NOT SERVED THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR COMMUNITY. SAFTY IS ALWAYS A PRIORITY, BUT I HAVE TO RESTORE THE FAITH AND HOPE OF OUR RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES. WITHOUT THIS THEY WILL NOT BE MOTIVATED TO WORK TO REBUILD AND MOVE FORWARD..

2. What are your plans for helping fight crime in your ward?

SAFETY IS A TOP PRIORITY. IN EARLY 2014, I FOUNDED AN ORGANIZATION NAMED THE 18TH WARD AWSL SAFE COMMUNITY INIATIVE. STILL IN its INFANT STAGES, WE HAVE SEEN POSITIVE MOVEMENT TOWARD OUR GOALS: I HAVE BEGAN THE WORK OF DEVELOPING COMMITED RELATIONSHPS BY SOME OF OUR BUSINESS OWNERS, TO INVEST IN THE SAFEY OF OUR YOUTH.

I PLAN TO OPEN A COUPLE OF YOUTH CENTERS, A DIVERSITY CENTER, AN ART PARK AND A DOG PLAY LOT.

3. What, if any, city assets would you consider privatizing to raise money?

I THINK WE HAVE PRIVATIZED ENOUGH CITY ASSETS ALREADY.

4. Do you support or oppose the vote to increase the minimum wage in several steps to $13 an hour by 2019?

I FOUGHT FOR THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE. WITH PEOPLE STRUGGLING SO HARD, LOSING THEIR HOMES AND HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME BUYING GROCERIES, I WISH THAT THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE STEPS COULD BE SHORTENED. HOEWEVER HAVING AN UNDERSTANDING OF ECONOMICS, I RECOGINIZE TO ATTEMPT NOT ALLOW BUSINESSES, OWNERS, ETC. FISCAL PERIODS TO DEVELOP FINANCIAL PLANS/ BUDGET TO MEET THE FUTURE PAYROLL INCREASE, WOULD RESULT IN A GREATER FINANCIAL CRISIS FOR THE ECONOMY.

5. Are you in favor of Chicago's Red Light Camera program?

I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF CHICAGO'S RED LIGHT CAMERA PROGRAM AS IT IS. STUDIES HAVE PROVEN THAT THESE CAMERAS HAVE BEEN FLAWED AND IN MANY INSTANCES, HAVE NOT BEEN PLACED IN AREAS WHERE THERE HAS BEEN A VOLUME OF TRAFFIC RELATED FATALITIES/MAJOR ACCIDENTS. I THINK THIS PROGRAM NEEDS TO EITHER BE REVAMPED, TO REFLECT THE INTENT THAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE PURPOSED FOR. AND THAT IS TO HELP KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE, OR BE SCRAPPED.
