It's mating season for coyotes, and people in Chicago are being warned to keep their dogs on a tight leash.

Animal experts say that alphas in coyote packs breed in February and give birth in April, which can make them increasingly agitated during this time of the year.

Dog owners are being urged to keep their pets on leashes to avoid potentially violent encounters with coyotes.
