Gov. Bruce Rauner eliminated so-called "fair share" dues paid by workers who don't join a union.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois labor unions want a judge to throw out an executive order from Gov. Bruce Rauner that ends a requirement that state workers must pay union dues even if they don't join a union.

Twenty-seven unions filed a lawsuit Thursday fighting what are known as "fair share" dues.

The unions say the governor's order violates collective bargaining agreements and state law.
