CHICAGO (WLS) -- Flames forced residents out of their homes in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood overnight.

Fire broke out just after 2 a.m. Thursday in a house near West 117th and South LaSalle streets.

By the time emergency crews arrived, the flames had engulfed the entire building and threatened to spread to the neighboring homes. Shamera Flowers, a neighbor, was asleep at the time.

"I was awoken from my sleep by my next door neighbor who was beating on my room widow. I woke up. She said, 'Get up! It's a fire next door!'" Flowers said.

She also said no one was living in the home next door.

No one was hurt in this fire. The cause is under investigation.
