PEORIA, Ill. (WLS) -- Congressman Aaron Schock is leaving office with more than $3 million in campaign funds - but there's only a few ways he can spend it.
Schock can use those campaign funds on legal fees or give it back to his donors. He could also save them if he decides to get back in politics.
House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday he was surprised to hear about Schock's resignation.
"Mr. Schock made a decision and I support the decision he made. But understand something, if someone's going to violate the rules, they're going to violate the rules, and in almost every case, it catches up to them," Boehner said.
Schock is stepping down after questions surfaced about how he was spending taxpayer money.
