AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- An 89-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash at a busy intersection in west suburban Aurora.

Investigators say a car went through a red light on Eola Road at Diehl and was struck by a semi.

The driver of the car, Carlos Villegas of Carpentersville, was killed. His 87-year-old wife was injured.

The trucker and the driver of a third vehicle that was also hit were not hurt. No citations have been issued.

Eola and Diehl remain closed in all directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
