CHICAGO (WLS) -- Four Chicago police officers helped save a 73-year-old man's life at Midway Airport, CPD News Affairs said.
Officers Walter Bland, John Munoz, Sherida Shepherd and David Dorkin were on duty around 9:30 a.m. Thursday when an airport restaurant worker told them an older man needed help. The officers discovered a 73-year-old man seated at the restaurant had stopped breathing.
Police said they moved the man to the floor and Dorkin began chest compressions. Shortly afterward, Bland relieved Dorkin and administered "hands-only" CPR. Meantime, Munoz and Shepherd ran to find a defibrillator to help resuscitate him.
The man eventually came to and started breathing normally again. Police said he was taken to McNeal Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
News Affairs did not release details on why the man stopped breathing.
