Northwestern University sent out an alert after a student was sexually assaulted in her dorm room on the Evanston campus.

EVASNTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A Northwestern University student was mugged just before midnight Thursday in the 2000-block of Pratt Court in Evanston.

The man walked up behind her, punched her in the face, and tried to take her cell phone. The robbery was not successful, and he ran away, according to a university alert posted on the website.

The woman was not seriously injured and no weapons was displayed.

Both Evanston and University police searched the area, but the offender was not found. He is described as a young white male, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie.
