DETROIT (WLS) -- Chevy is offering a car that will help parents keep tabs on their teenagers' driving habits; the technology is like spyware on wheels.

The Chevy Malibu comes with a hidden monitoring system that requires a specially coded key.

That key will send parents a sort of report card on their teen's driving, such as how far they've driven, how many times they broke the speed limit and how many times they almost got into an accident.

Nearly one million teens a year are involved in serious car crashes. Distractions are a factor in six out of 10 of them.
