Bicyclist struck in West Englewood hit-and-run dies

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood.

Michael Joseph, 59, was riding a bike on West 74th Street near South Racine Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, when police said he was struck by a light-colored Chevrolet sedan.

Police said the driver took off, heading west on 74th Street and then north on South Loomis Boulevard.

Joseph, of the 1400-block of West 71st Place, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said he was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m. Monday.
