CHICAGO (WLS) -- Thousands of volunteers worked together to repair dozens of homes as part of National Rebuilding Day.
Thirty-five hundred volunteers painted, installed electricity and plumbing, and did landscaping and carpentry repairs to 82 homes on the city's West Side and in suburban Maywood.
Four non-profit centers also received renovations.
"Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago" has renovated more than 1,400 homes and 200 non-profit facilities since it was established in 1991.
